"Photo of Wooden Cemetery Grave Markers in Bodie Cemetery"

It appears headstones were not common, but timber grave markers were.
Few, if any original cemetery plots with names remain,
as timber (especially softwood, which was used extensively)
has a limited life in this harsh
windswept, snowy climate and the miners primary motivation
for being in Bodie was for the gold

There are stone gravestones in this cemetery, but I strongly suspect they are not original
and have been added in recent years by descendants and people donating them.
(some look like they were added last month)
